Eagle Nest (3 mi east)
The historic village of Eagle Nest, nearby, provides a few Eateries, Shoppes and even a Haunted Hotel/Bar! The Village has a wonderful and storied past of gunslingers, ghost towns, gold mining, gambling and wide-open, peaceful spaces. The Village has been the crossroads of many pioneers and frontier Indians for centuries. Both the famed ‘Colfax County War’ and Kit Carson’s adventures have taken place near here and have been recorded in the pages of the history books.

Elizabethtown (8.4 mi north)
Mostly a ghost town now, Elizabethtown began in 1866 with the founding of area gold mines and the Mystic Copper Mine. It was New Mexico's first incorporated town. Nicknamed "E-Town," the town grew to over 7,000 residents at its height of prosperity in 1870, and it was designated the first seat of the newly formed Colfax County.

Red River (20 mi north)
The town of Red River began in late in the 19th century, when miners from nearby Elizabethtown in the Moreno Valley were drawn in by gold strikes in the area and trappers sought game. It was named after the perennial stream, Red River, that flows through the town, coming from the northern slopes of Wheeler Peak.

Angel Fire (9 mi west)
An extremely “young” village for New Mexico, Angel Fire was only a "concept" until the 1960s, when landowners began to envision a “resort” area, complete with fishing, hunting, mountain biking, zip line, skiing and more. Before that time, it was comprised of rolling hills, high mountains, lush valleys, streams, and just a few owners over the years. Currently, It is home to the first and only half-pipe in the state and boasts a number of special feature terrain parks. The Resort has established itself as the snowboard and/ or mountain bike destination of Northern New Mexico.

Well how about hitting the trails up to the summit of Wheeler Peak.
At 13,161ft, on a clear day, you can take in a magnificent view that extends all the way into Colorado.
Is fishing your passion?
There are several great spots in nearby in the State & National Parks, Majestic Canyons
as well as, we are directly across the way from us in the majestic Eagle Nest Lake.

Is Mountain Biking your thing?
Are you trying to shred some trails on your mountain bike? Angel Fire Bike Park has some killer spots for you.
They have been voted best in the Southwest 5 years in a row. Offering 2,000+ vertical feet of trail on over 60 miles
of purpose built, lift-served terrain this is some of the best riding in America.
Are Snow Sports up your alley?
How about some enjoyment in the colder months? There is no shortage of resorts to meet your ski and snowboard needs.
Not far from the lodge are the Angel Fire and Red River Ski Slopes, a little further is the Taos Ski Valley, self-described as,
“A wild frontier for skiing and snowboarding,steeped in legendary culture, unconventional traditions and rugged perfection.”
